Statkraft Hires EDF Power Analyst Ketil Hovland as Originator

Ketil Hovland, a former quantitative analyst at EDF Trading Ltd., will join Statkraft AS, Norway’s biggest utility.

Hovland will join the Oslo-based company as an originator, Knut Fjerdingstad, a Statkraft spokesman, said today by e-mail, without saying when he starts in the position.

Hovland is one of several former employees of EDF Trading to find work in Norway after the company closed its Oslo office this month and shifted its Nordic power trading to London. Hafslund ASA (HNA), the country’s biggest electricity retailer and power-grid owner, said today it hired Hans Hansen and Thomas Reksnes, former traders at the Electricite de France SA unit.

Statkraft is Europe’s largest alternative energy producer, Norway’s largest power producer and the Nordic region’s third largest electricity generator. It has total annual power output of of 51.5 terawatt-hours, 91 percent of which from renewable sources, mostly hydropower.
