Rochelle on Verizon-Idearc, Madoff, US Fidelis Sentence: Audio

Creditors of a bankrupt former subsidiary of Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) are going to an appeals court hoping they will be given a jury trial in October, rather than a trial where a federal district judge in Dallas will hear the case without a jury, as Bloomberg Law's Lee Pacchia and Bloomberg New bankruptcy columnist Bill Rochelle discuss on their podcast. Rochelle explains why two upcoming appeals in the U.S. Court of Appeals will decide whether customers of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities Inc. will have a complete recovery. One of the perpetrators of fraud at US Fidelis Inc. will be jailed for 40 months, a comparatively light sentence compared with punishment meted out to other fraudsters.
