A Ukrainian court ruled that the government must pay Russia 3.1 billion hryvnia ($380 million) in compensation for the debt of gas trader United Energy Systems, Interfax-Ukraine reported, citing the ruling.
The company failed to deliver on contracts signed with the Russian Defense Ministry in the 1990s and guaranteed by the government of Ukraine, according to Interfax. The company was headed by former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
