Chile Government Expects Cabinet Change by November, Emol Says

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera may have to shuffle his Cabinet after the resignations of at least two ministers by November to run for Congress or start campaigning for the 2013 presidential election, Santiago-based newspaper El Mercurio’s online edition Emol reported today, citing Labor Minister Evelyn Matthei.

Public Works Minister Laurence Golborne, who led the rescue of 33 trapped miners in 2010, and Defense Minister Andres Allamand are possible candidates to replace Pinera when he is scheduled to leave office in March 2014, the newspaper reported, citing unidentified officials it didn’t name.
