PHILIPPINE DAYBOOK: July Jobless Report, Mining Conference

The Philippine statistics agency releases July unemployment data at 9 a.m.

The nation’s jobless rate declined to 6.9 percent in April from 7.2 percent in the same period last year, the agency reported June 15.

EVENTS: *Alliance Global (AGI) holds annual stockholders’ meeting at 9 a.m. *Three-day Philippine Mining Conference starts today.

EQUITIES: *Aboitiz Power Corp. (AP PM) confirmed in a stock-exchange disclosure that its units and associates are arranging the financing for three power plant projects with total generating capacity of 1,300 megawatts. *Benguet Corp. (BC PM) said its nickel unit declared a cash dividend of 150 million pesos. *MacroAsia Corp. (MAC) said it bought back 100,000 shares at 2.80 pesos each.

MARKETS: *Philippine Stock Exchange Index rises 0.5 percent *Peso falls 0.5 percent *MSCI Asia Pacific Index falls 0.2 percent *Dow Jones Industrial Average declines 0.3 percent
