Jamaica’s Cabinet Approves Water Contract for Kingston Upgrades

Jamaica’s cabinet approved an $18 million contract with Kier Construction Ltd. for water system upgrades in Kingston and St. Andrew that include new pumping equipment, supply transmission lines and wastewater treatment.

Government minister Sandrea Falconer said 26 sites in the Kingston area will see upgrades to the water network such as the installation of chlorination facilities and structural work on at least three reservoirs near the capital.

Funding for the projects will come from the government as well as the Inter-American Development Bank.
