Uganda Coffee Exports Fall 24% in August on Smaller Crop
Shipments of the 60-kilogram (110-pound) declined to 233,151 from 308,739 bags a year earlier, the agency said today in an e-mailed report from Kampala, the capital.
Exports in August marked the first monthly fall since April, declining from 306,331 bags in July, according to the report. The value of the shipments was $31.5 million in the month, the figures showed.
Shipments from October through August dropped to 2.55 million bags worth $369 million from 2.8 million bags valued at $399.3 million a year earlier, according to a tally of the authority’s figures by Bloomberg News.
The nation exported 3.15 million bags worth $448.89 million in 2010-11, according to the coffee authority.
