Egypt Earmarks an Additional $159 Million for Fuel Purchases

Egypt’s Finance Ministry said it allocated an additional $159 million for fuel purchases to ensure adequate supplies and took “urgent steps” to guarantee that other commodities are available.
The extra funds increased to $1.36 billion the amount given to the state-owned Egyptian General Petroleum Corp. since the beginning of the current fiscal year, Finance Minister Momtaz el-Saieed said in a statement today.
