Romania Sets Date of Elections for Dec. 9 After Cabinet Approval

Romania plans to hold parliamentary elections on Dec. 9 after the government approved today a law setting the details for the ballot.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta had initially said the general elections would be held on Dec. 2 and decided to change the date after discussions with his cabinet, spokesman Andrei Zaharescu said in a phone interview today after a government meeting.
