Isaac Nears Louisiana Coast With Storrm-Surge Flooding

Hurricane Isaac’s center neared the coast of southeast Louisiana, accompanied by storm-surge flooding, the National Hurricane Center said.

Isaac was about 15 miles (25 kilometers) south-southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River as of 6 p.m. local time and was moving northwest at 8 mph. Top winds remained at 80 mph as the storm moved toward landfall as a Category 1 hurricane.
