Germany’s lawmakers from the ruling coalition want to cut the deficit to zero by 2014, two years earlier than Finance Minster Wolfgang Schaeuble aims for, Rheinische Post reported, citing Norbert Barthle, budget spokesman of the CDU/CSU political parties.
Lawmakers will meet in Berlin today and tomorrow to discuss the budget for 2013 and goals for 2014, the newspaper said.
Lawmakers also want to reduce anticipated net borrowing of 18.8 billion euros for 2013, the newspaper said.
