Wallabies Captain Pocock to Miss All Blacks Game, Needs Surgery

Australia captain David Pocock will miss this week’s Rugby Championship match against New Zealand after injuring his knee in the tournament opener, the team said.
The openside flanker, 24, will undergo surgery tomorrow to determine the extent of the injury after damaging his articular cartilage in the first half of the Wallabies’ 27-19 loss to the world champion All Blacks in Sydney two days ago.
No timeframe was given for Pocock’s return in a announcement on the Wallabies’ Twitter feed. Wallabies coach Robbie Deanssaid after the match that scrum-half Will Genia would take over as captain if Pocock was unavailable.
