Derek Jeter hit his 250th home run as the American League-leading New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox 6-4 in the first of their three-game series.
Besides Jeter, Nick Swisher hit two home runs and Curtis Granderson and Russell Martin each added solo homers at Yankee Stadium.
Dustin Pedroia hit a three-run homer for the Red Sox.
