CTC Media’s TV Audience Drops Less Than Peers’, TNS-Global Says

CTC Media Inc. (CTCM)’s CTC television channel saw its average daily share of Russian viewers decline less than competitors’ in the week to Aug. 12, data researcher TNS-Global said.

Share of Russian viewers aged 18 years and older for CTC TV, the Nasdaq-listed Russian media company’s biggest source of revenue, fell to 4.8 percent in the week to Aug. 12 from 5 percent a week earlier, TNS-Global said by e-mail today. CTC rose to seventh most-watched TV channel in the week to Aug. 12, as REN TV’s share of viewers slid to 4.5 percent from 5.1 percent a week earlier.

CTC’s average daily audience among viewers 4 years old and over dropped to 5.2 percent in the week to Aug. 12 from 5.4 percent in the previous week, the data show. CTC rose to sixth- most watched TV channel from seventh last week, outpacing Fifth Channel, the researcher said.

Russia’s NTV Television, Rossiya-1 and Pervyi Kanal were the top three most watched channels in both categories. Rossiya-2 and TNT TV placed ahead of CTC among viewers 4 years and older, the data show. Rossiya-2, TNT TV, Fifth Channel outpaced CTC among viewers 18 years and older in the week to Aug. 12, the data showed.
