The number of people in Germany who turned themselves in for tax evasion rose after the latest acquisitions of CDs with bank account information, the Financial Times Deutschland reported on its website.
The state of Baden-Wuerttemberg reported 287 self- declarations since July 15, the newspaper said, citing the tax authorities. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the number for July rose to 93 from a previous monthly average of 20, according to FTD. Tax authorities bought four CDs with bank data in recent weeks, the newspaper said.
