Most French voters expect President Francois Hollande to renege on a promise to block increases in gasoline prices if they surpass records attained earlier this year, a poll showed.
About 60 percent of those surveyed said Hollande will drop his promise, while 40 percent said he’ll keep it, according to the Ifop poll for L’Humanite newspaper.
Ifop interviewed 1,005 voters between Aug. 9 and Aug. 11. The poll’s margin of error is about 3 percentage points.
