Mabey Bridge Installs Repower Turbines at Wind Farm in U.K.

Mabey Bridge Ltd., a U.K. steelmaker and builder that entered the wind-power industry in 2010, installed five wind turbines and supporting towers at a project in northern England owned by Guy Hands’s Infinis Plc.

Mabey Bridge made the towers for the Seamer facility in Teesside, while the 2-megawatt turbines were produced by Germany’s Repower Systems SE, the Chepstow, Wales-based company said today said in an e-mailed statement.

Mabey Bridge added wind energy to its investments in 2010 and inaugurated a 38 million-pound ($60 million) factory for towers and related steelwork the following year. Infinis, the Northampton, England-based company owned by financier Hands, bought the Seamer site in May, according to the Infinis website.
