German Left Party Says Referendum Would Kill ESM, Passauer Says

Sahra Wagenknecht, a lawmaker in Germany’s anti-capitalist Left Party, said the European Stability Mechanism will founder if the country’s top court orders it to be put to a referendum, Passauer Neue Presse reported, citing an interview.

The Left Party has sought to block measures adopted to battle Europe’s sovereign debt crisis by filing a suit against the ESM at the federal constitutional court in Karlsruhe, the newspaper said.
