Ukraine’s Six-Month State Budget Gap Narrows, Ministry Says

Ukraine’s first-half state budget deficit narrowed from a year earlier as revenue rose 16.9 percent, the Finance Ministry said.

The shortfall was 6.7 billion hryvnia ($826 million), compared with 10.96 billion hryvnia in the same period of 2011, the ministry, based in the capital, Kiev, said today in a statement on its website. Revenue increased to 162.96 billion hryvnia from 139.35 billion, the ministry said.

Ukraine raised 5.09 billion hryvnia from January to June by selling state assets, according to the statement.
