Venezuela Shuts Down 89 McDonald’s Restaurants Over Tax Records
Venezuela’s national tax authority Seniat today ordered a three-day shutdown of 89 McDonald’s restaurants across the country on the grounds of inadequate bookkeeping, the agency said in an e-mailed statement without providing additional information.
The closed McDonald’s franchises are operated by Cia. Operativa de Alimentos COR CA, Caracas-based El Mundo newspaper reported today on its website. Another 51 McDonald’s restaurants in Venezuela were not affected because they are operated by other franchises, the Caracas-based newspaper reported.
