Sharks Beat Stormers to Set Up Super Rugby Final Against Chiefs

The Sharks beat the Stormers 26-19 to advance to the Super Rugby final against the Chiefs.

Frederic Michalek’s 76th-minute drop goal clinched the win for the Sharks in the all-South African semifinal in Cape Town. Michalek kicked 16 points, while JP Pietersen and Louis Ludik scored tries for the visitors.

Gio Aplon touched down and Peter Grant booted 14 points for the Stormers, who had the No. 1 seeding in the playoffs after topping the regular-season standings.

The Sharks will travel to Hamilton, New Zealand, to face the Chiefs for the title on Aug. 4. The Chiefs advanced with a 20-17 win over the Crusaders yesterday.
