Russia, Japan Will Continue Talks on Kurils, Lavrov Says

Russia and Japan still have “different views” about a planned peace treaty aiming to resolve a dispute over four Kuril islands claimed by both countries, Russia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

The two governments are prepared to continue their discussions about the treaty, Lavrov said after today’s meeting with Japan’s Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba in the southern Russian city of Sochi.
