Senator Blocks Obama’s Nominee Over Sexual-Assault Probe

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will travel to Africa tomorrow for a two-week trip that includes stops in Senegal, South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and South Africa, the State Department announced today.

The visits are designed “to strengthen democratic institutions, spur economic growth, advance peace and security as well as promote opportunity and development for all citizens,” the State Department said in a statement.

In South Africa, Clinton will meet with former President Nelson Mandela and participate in the U.S.-South Africa Strategic Dialogue.
