Colombia Oil Spill Causes Environmental Emergency, Caracol Says

An oil spill in a river in Colombia’s northeastern Boyaca province is causing an environmental emergency, Caracol Radio reported.

The spill resulted from an attack on the Cano Limon Convenas pipeline, the station reported today on its website.

Jhon Jairo Alonso, the mayor of the village of La Blanquita, said the attack occurred in the village of La Esperanza, according to the article. He said the environmental damage appeared in his town yesterday, Caracol reported.

The article didn’t contain further details about the size of the spill.
