The SET Index fell for a third day, declining 0.4 percent to 1,208.55. The gauge dropped 0.1 percent this week, the first decrease in four weeks.
CIMB Thai Bank Pcl (CIMBT) , a unit of Malaysia’s CIMB Group Holdings Bhd., declined 2.7 percent to 2.16 baht, the lowest close since June 21. Profit in the second quarter slumped 89 percent to 28.7 million baht ($905,000).
Indorama Ventures Pcl (IVL) , the nation’s largest maker of polyester, rose 1.6 percent to 31 baht, the highest close since May 15. The company yesterday started commercial operations of a plant in Nigeria to tap demand in Africa, it said in a regulatory filing today.
Krung Thai Bank Pcl (KTB) , Thailand’s second-biggest lender by assets, climbed 1.9 percent to 16.30 baht, halting a three-day slide. Net income in the second quarter jumped 40 percent to 7.34 billion baht.
Oishi Group Pcl (OISHI TB), controlled by Thailand’s biggest whiskey and beer producer, dropped 1.2 percent to 160 baht, the steepest loss since June 29. Heineken NV, the world’s third-biggest brewer, will offer as much as $6 billion to take over Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd., blocking Thai Beverage Plc from building its influence in the maker of Tiger beer. Thai Beverage is the parent of Oishi Group. Berli Jucker Pcl (BJC) , an affiliate of Thai Beverage, lost 3.6 percent to 40.5 baht, the most since March 22.
