Chilean Stocks: Cap, Empresas Copec, ILC and Sonda Were Active

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close of trade in Santiago.

The Ipsa index fell 0.2 percent to 4,384.50. The MSCI Chile index (MXCL) retreated 0.8 percent to 2,445.94.

Cap SA (CAP) fell 0.2 percent to 19,013 pesos, its second day of losses. Chile’s largest iron miner and steel producer sank in line with base metal prices.

Empresas Copec SA (COPEC) retreated 1.4 percent to 7,290.20 pesos. Chile’s largest pulp exporter and the company with the largest weighting in the Ipsa benchmark index retreated in line with global stocks amid concern that policy makers aren’t doing enough to calm Spain’s debt crisis.

Inversiones La Construccion SA (ILC CC) rose 2.5 percent to 7,238.40 pesos. The Chilean holding company gained today in its first day of trading after raising $466 million in Chile’s largest initial public offering on record, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Sonda SA (SONDA) fell 0.3 percent to 1,405.40 pesos. Chile’s largest information technology company is scheduled to disclose its second-quarter results July 23 after the close of markets, according to a report to clients from Santiago-based brokerage Celfin Capital SA, which expects a 26 percent jump in profit from a year earlier.
