Argentina Stocks: Pampa Energia, Siderar, YPF Were Active
The following companies had unusual price changes in Argentine trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of the close of trading. The Merval (MERVAL) index rose 0.2 percent to 2,385.09.
Pampa Energia SA (PAMP) climbed the most on the Merval index, advancing 3.6 percent to 1.14 pesos. Central Termica Loma de la Lata SA, an Argentine electricity generator owned by Pampa Energia, said today that it will buy back as much as $25 million of outstanding 2015 notes.
Siderar SAIC (ERAR) , Argentina’s largest steel producer, fell 1.8 percent to 1.62 pesos as prices for base metals decreased.
YPF SA (YPFD) , Argentina’s state-run oil company, rose 1.8 percent to 85 pesos. The company plans to build a $7 billion refinery with capacity to process 300,000 barrels of crude per day, El Cronista reported, without saying where it got the information. YPF’s press office declined to comment in an e-mail to Bloomberg News.
