Ecuadorean Ex-Banker Lasso to Run for Presidency, Comercio Says

Guillermo Lasso, the former chief executive officer of Ecuador’s Banco de Guayaquil SA, announced he will run for president in the South American nation’s elections in February, El Comercio reported.

Lasso announced his candidacy at a political rally in the coastal city of Guayaquil, the Quito-based newspaper said last night on its website.

Lasso didn’t immediately reply to an e-mailed message seeking comment today
