Colombia Stocks: BVC, Petrominerales, Pacific Rubiales Energy

The following companies had unusual price changes in Bogota trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close of trading.

The IGBC Index (IGBC) gained 0.8 percent to 13,675.13 while the Colcap Index increased 0.7 percent to 1,666.08.

Bolsa de Valores de Colombia SA (BVC CB), the operator of the country’s main stock exchange, increased 2.8 percent to 29.30 pesos. The company said on its website yesterday that net income rose 21 percent to 17.3 billion pesos ($9.7 million) in the first six months of the year.

Ecopetrol SA (ECOPETL) , Colombia’s largest oil company, advanced 0.8 percent to 5,010 pesos. Construction on the Bicentennial Pipeline will be completed Dec. 30, the Mines and Energy Ministry said yesterday by e-mail. Ecopetrol, which controls the pipeline, has said the project would be finished in the fourth quarter.

Other oil producers gained in line with crude as the U.S. Energy Department reported that supplies dropped.

Petrominerales Ltd. (PMG) , a Calgary-based oil company that operates in the Andean region, rose 1.3 percent to 18,380 pesos. Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (PRE) , which operates the country’s largest oil field, increased 1.4 percent to 39,880 pesos.
