Yankees Get Relief Pitcher Chad Qualls in Trade With Phillies

The New York Yankees acquired right- handed relief pitcher Chad Qualls from the Philadelphia Phillies for a player to be named or cash.
Qualls, 33, had a 1-1 record with a 4.60 earned run average in a team-high 35 appearances for the Phillies this season. He requested to be traded after being designated for assignment on June 28.
Over parts of nine Major League Baseball seasons, Qualls is 39-35 with a 3.82 ERA and 51 saves.
