Putin Wants Positive Approach to Cyprus Loan Bid, Politis Says

President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian Finance Ministry to take a positive approach to a request from Cyprus for a loan of 5 billion euros ($6.2 billion), Politis reported.

The Russian leader also told the ministry to review Cyprus’s request as soon as possible, the Nicosia-based newspaper reported today without saying where it got the information.

Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, declined to comment on the report when contacted by Bloomberg News.
