China’s Pension Fund Balance Increases to $307 Billion

The balance of China’s national pension fund rose to 1.95 trillion yuan ($307 billion) at the end of 2011, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security said, without giving the year-earlier figure.

Revenue rose 26 percent in 2011 from a year earlier to 1.69 trillion yuan, as expenditure gained 21 percent to 1.28 trillion yuan, according to a report released by the ministry yesterday.

The national social security system, including the pension fund and four social-insurance funds, had about 3.02 trillion yuan in total assets at year-end.
