Hong Kong, Guangdong, Macau Link Up in Pollution-Reduction Plan

China’s Guangdong province, Hong Kong and Macau will cooperate to improve the air quality of the Pearl River Delta region, according to a joint statement from the local governments today.

Hong Kong and the southern Chinese province will announce a plan to reduce air pollutant emissions for the region up to 2020, the report said. The governments may also encourage vessels berthing at the Pearl River Delta area to use cleaner fuel, it said.

The three areas will jointly promote the use of renewable energy, according to the statement.
