Mexico May Approve 5 New Banks Before End of Year, Reforma Says

Mexico’s banks regulator may approve as many as five banks setting up new operations in the country before the end of this year, Reforma said.

This would put the number of lenders in Mexico at 47, the Mexico City-based newspaper said, citing Carlos Lopez Moctezuma, a spokesman of regulator Comision Nacional Bancaria y de Valores. The article didn’t name who any of the banks may include.
