Rob Hennigan Is Named General Manager of NBA’s Orlando Magic
Otis Smith didn’t return as the Magic’s general manager after the team lost in the first round of the playoffs. Orlando also fired coach Stan Van Gundy.
“Rob is an astute strategist and evaluator of talent who comes to the Magic family from two championship-level organizations,” said Magic Chief Executive Officer Alex Martins.
Hennigan spent four seasons with the Thunder, who trail the Miami Heat 3-1 in the NBA Finals.
Before joining Oklahoma City, Hennigan was director of basketball operations with the San Antonio Spurs, where he started his four-year career as an intern. The Spurs won the NBA Championship twice while he was with the team.
