Nomura Names Mark Williams Head of Investment Banking for Asia
Nomura Holdings Inc. (8604) appointed Mark Williams as head of investment banking for Asia outside Japan to replace Patrick Schmitz-Morkramer, according to an internal memo obtained by Bloomberg News.
Williams joined the Tokyo-based securities firm as regional head of equity capital markets in 2010 from UBS AG. (UBSN) Schmitz- Morkramer is leaving Nomura to take a “career sabbatical,” according to the document. Rob Stewart, a Nomura spokesman in Hong Kong, confirmed the contents of the memo.
Schmitz-Morkramer’s departure follows those of George Sun, former co-head of fixed-income sales for Asia, and Patrick Lee, the ex-chief of investment banking in Southeast Asia, both of whom left this month.
Nitin Jain, Nomura’s co-head of fixed income for India, is leaving to join Zurich-based UBS, people familiar with the matter said this week.
Schmitz-Morkramer was appointed co-head of Nomura’s investment banking unit in Asia outside Japan in January 2010.
