OPIC to Invest $175 Million in Two Renewable Energy Funds

The Overseas Private Investment Corp. will invest $175 million in two renewable energy funds managed by TPG Capital and GEF Management Corp.
TPG’s Alternative & Renewable Technologies Partners will receive $125 million and invest in U.S. and European companies that deploy clean energy technologies in Latin America and Southeast Asia, OPIC, an independent U.S. government agency based in Washington, D.C., said today in a statement.
GEF’s Africa Growth Fund will receive $50 million and invest in renewable power and energy efficiency technologies in sub-Saharan Africa as well as companies that promote sustainable agriculture, OPIC said.
