Turk Telekom May Buy Turkey’s ATV, Sabah With Abraaj, Vatan Says

Turk Telekomunikasyon AS (TTKOM), Turkey’s biggest phone company, may buy ATV television and Sabah newspaper with Abraaj Capital Ltd., Vatan said.

Turk Telekom, owned by Saudi Oger Ltd., and Abraaj met with officials of Calik Holding AS, which owns Sabah and ATV, to discuss the possible purchase and get details of the media units’ income, expenditure and partnerships, the Istanbul-based newspaper reported.

Turk Telekom is studying all kinds of commercial opportunities to increase its share value and has made no decision on buying any assets, it said in a filing with the Istanbul Stock Exchange today.

Time Warner Inc. (TWX) is no longer interested in buying ATV television, Vatan said.
