BNP Paribas to Use S. Africa to Expand in Africa, Bus. Day Says

BNP Paribas SA (BNP) will use its South African base to look for growth opportunities in English- speaking countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Business Day reported, citing Alain Papiasse, head of corporate and retail banking.

France’s largest listed bank, which has been given regulatory permission to open a branch in South Africa, plans to expand its corporate and investment banking operations in countries where it is under-represented, the Johannesburg-based newspaper reported.
