Azerbaijan Predicts 12% Growth in Gas Output by 2015, Trend Says

Azerbaijan expects a 12 percent increase in natural-gas production by 2015, the Trend news agency said, citing State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan documents.

Gas output will be 29 billion cubic meters, above the 25.8 billion the nation produced last year, the report said. Just over 21 billion cubic meters will be provided by the BP Plc-led Shah Deniz and Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields in Azerbaijan’s section of the Caspian Sea, while the state-run oil company, known as Socar, will pump 7.9 billion cubic meters, it said.

Azerbaijan, the third-largest oil producer in the former Soviet Union after Russia and Kazakhstan, produced 45.6 million metric tons of oil last year.
