Billionaire Mukesh Ambani will use a high-speed, fourth-generation wireless network to offer television services, coupled with Internet access, to India’s 120 million households that use cable or direct-to-home technologies to watch TV, the Business Standard reported, citing vendors it didn’t name.
Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) will also offer high- definition TV content to the country’s mobile-phone users, the paper reported. Reliance’s purchase of a stake in Network 18 Group companies is aimed at producing compelling TV content for such an offering, Business Standard said.
