Peru Stocks: Candente Copper, Credicorp, Volcan Advance

The following companies had unusual price changes in Peru trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of the market close.

The Lima General Index (IGBVL) rose 0.6 percent to 20,997.56. The MSCI All Peru Capped Index gained 0.5 percent to 2,681.20.

Candente Copper Corp. (DNT) , a Canadian exploration company, jumped 8.2 percent to 66 cents after receiving government authorization to drill at its copper property.

Credicorp Ltd. (BAP) , Peru’s largest financial-services company, gained 2.5 percent to $124.15, in line with gains by its New York-traded American Depositary Receipt and U.S. banks. Its Banco de Credito unit said today it brokered Peru’s first swap contract in soles.

Volcan Cia. Minera SAA (VOLCABC1) (VOLCABC1 PE), Peru’s largest zinc and silver producer, advanced 1 percent to 3.08 soles after its weighting was increased in Peru’s exchange-traded fund, spurring investors to add the stock to their portfolios, said Inteligo SAB analyst Lali Merino.
