Monti Says Italy Threatened by ‘Huge Possibility’ of Contagion

Italy remains threatened by “huge possibilities of contagion” even though its economic management won a “fairly positive assessment” from the European Commission yesterday, Prime Minister Mario Monti said.

“The spread as an indicator of contagion is there, is there more for the overall weakness of the system,” Monti said by video link to an EU conference in Brussels today.
