Iran to Name Candidate for OPEC Chief Role, Donya-e-Eqtesad Says

Iran will name a candidate for the job of OPEC secretary general when the producer group meets next month, Donya-e-Eqtesad reported, citing the nation’s governor to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Mohammad Ali Khatibi didn’t identify a person for the role, according to the Tehran-based newspaper. Iran is OPEC’s second- biggest producer after Saudi Arabia.

The group’s current secretary-general, Libya’s Abdalla el- Badri, will end his second three-year term at the end of this year. Ministers from OPEC’s 12 member states plan to gather at its headquarters in Vienna on June. 14.
