Nadal Plays Bolelli, Djokovic Faces Starace at French Open

Defending champion Rafael Nadal of Spain will start his quest for a men’s record seventh French Open title against Simone Bolelli of Italy.

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia plays Italy’s Potito Starace, while 2009 champion Roger Federer of Switzerland faces Tobias Kamke of Germany. Federer and Djokovic were drawn in the same half. In Nadal’s half, Britain’s Andy Murray, ranked fourth, starts against Tatsuma Ito of Japan.

In the women’s draw, world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus starts against Italy’s Alberta Brianti, while defending champion Li Na of China plays Sorana Cirstea of Romania. Russia’s Maria Sharapova was drawn against Alexandra Candantu, also of Romania. Thirteen-time major champion Serena Williams of the U.S., who was drawn in the same half as Sharapova, meets France’s Virginie Razzano.
