Ratchaburi, Shin Corp., Thai Airways: Thailand Equity Preview

Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close yesterday.

The SET Index (SET) fell 1.7 percent to 1,135.16.

Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Pcl (RATCH) : The state-controlled Ratchaburi may invest in a gas-fired power plant in Qatar, the Kao Hoon newspaper reported, citing Thai Energy Minister Arak Chonlatanon. Ratchaburi decreased 0.6 percent to 40 baht.

Shin Corp. Pcl (INTUCH) : Infobahn Co. Ltd. filed a lawsuit against Shin and its directors, claiming the breach of an agreement on a sale Thaicom (THCOM) Pcl shares, Shin said in a regulatory filing. Shin, Thaicom’s biggest shareholder, rejected Infobahn’s claim and will defend the case in the court, it said. Shin dropped 1.4 percent to 53.5 baht. Thaicom (THCOM TB) declined 0.8 percent to 13.2 baht.

Thai Airways International Pcl (THAI) : Piyasvasti Amranand, former chief executive officer of Thai Airways, yesterday blamed politics over business for his removal from the carrier. The board of Thailand’s biggest airline yesterday cited a breakdown in communications with Piyasvasti for terminating his contract after three years. Thai Airways lost 1.3 percent to 22.8 baht.
