Kleiner Perkins Raises $525 Million for Web, Clean Tech

Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, the venture capitalists that backed Google Inc. and Amazon.com Inc., raised $525 million for investments in startups focused on digital technology, alternative energy and life sciences.
The fund will be led by 10 partners, including John Doerr and Bing Gordon, the Menlo Park, California-based company said today in a statement. New partners in the fund include former Twitter Inc. executive Mike Abbott and clean-tech investors Amol Deshpande and Wen Hsieh.
