Iran Says Foiled 2007 Attempt to Kill Ahmadinejad, Mehr Reports

Iranian forces foiled a 2007 attempt by Sunni Muslim group Jundallah to assassinate President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mehr reported, citing the Intelligence Ministry.

The Jundallah group sought to carry out a suicide attack during Ahmadinejad’s visit to the city of Iranshahr in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan, the state-run news agency said yesterday, citing a statement.
