Spain Negotiating EU Funds for Banks, Economista Says

The Spanish government is negotiating with European Union officials over funding from the European Financial Stability Facility or the European Investment Bank to bolster its lenders, El Economista reported.

Officials favor tapping the EIB for funding to dodge the conditions that Germany may impose for access to the EFSF, the newspaper said, citing unidentified people close to Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
