Argentine Stocks: Edenor and Transener Were Active
The following companies had unusual price changes in Argentine trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and share prices are as of the close in Buenos Aires. The Merval (MERVAL) index fell 2.1 percent to 2,335.01.
Empresa Distribuidora & Comercializadora Norte SA (EDN) dropped 12 percent to 0.82 pesos, the most since last August. Argentina’s government may provide short-term financial support to electricity providers Edenor and Empresa Distribuidora Sur SA and isn’t interested in taking control of the companies as it did with YPF SA, Infobae.com said, citing union leader Oscar Lescano.
Cia de Transporte de Energia Electrica en Alta Tension Transener SA (TRAN AF), the operator of the country’s national electricity grid, fell 4.9 percent to 0.78 peso.
